A boy and his toys

This is a post with a lot of pictures since I haven't posted in almost a week. I haven't been feeling well and most of time time, when I'm not working or spending time with Evan and Mike, I'm sleeping. Enjoy all of the pictures!

This is how it all started, innocent playing on the floor

and over it goes...

and in the mouth

and then we got out the blocks

and we'll call it a day!

Have a good Wednesday!

Two very lazy bums

Today was one of my days home with Evan. My mom left for the Philippines very early this morning and she won't be back until June 13. I will try and post more frequently so that Mom can see her grandson as often as possible. During our day, we did absolutely nothing. I haven't been feeling too well ever since the smoke day on Tuesday. The stuff is still in my throat and it hurts but I'm a big baby. I'll get over it soon.

Today started with some time in the saucer

and some time on the floor

and some time in the crib

and Evan squeezed in some nap time at 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. I joined him for the two hour nap at 2:00 PM.

Tomorrow, I have to work again but luckily, I get Monday off and Wednesday for another day with Evan. My cousin, Christina, is going to watch Evan for the three days in June that I would have had to take off work, until Mom gets back. This will allow me to take a day or two off at the end of June when Heather, Rob, Kathryn, and Elena come to visit!

Happy Birthday Jerry!

Saturday was my little brother, Jerry's, 25th birthday. Evan was ready to party so we headed across town to my dad's house in Douglasville. Here are some pics from party day and the weekend.

And lastly, since I was up until 1 AM last night making this banner for the ministry fair at church, I figured I would post a picture of it. Thanks to my mom for helping me with sewing the banner and getting the materials. I had to cut out the letters and iron everything on late last night, since I am the worst procrastinator. Mike helped me make sure most of it was even.

The best part though is that I got 2 people interested in my ministry (sarcasm). Mike's medical mission had waaayy more people sign up. Alas, volunteer work is never easy and most of the people at my church don't think weddings are important. Maybe next time!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Evan is a Catholic!

(Warning: This is a long post)
We started at the baptismal font. Sharon, Evan's godmother, is holding him. Tim, his godfather, is beside them. Cole came up to check out the "dress"

Water! Evan was shocked at first, but didn't cry. It probably felt good since it was so hot outside.

Sharon, Evan, and Tim. About this time, he started responding to Fr. Chito. He was smiling and gooing and gaahing the Amens.

Fr. Chito blessing Evan's mouth and ears. Mike loves this picture because Evan was paying close attention.

Mike, Fr. Chito, Evan, and me. We were all looking different directions. There's no telling why.

On the couch are Al and Julie Ciccone. They bought Evan his baptism outfit. We are so grateful to them for their love, generousity, and help with everything! They also help me out with the wedding guild at church.

Almost bedtime. Both of them were so sleepy after their partying!

I had to post this because I'm not sporting the huge double chin in this picture. Sorry Christina!

Trouble!

Closeup!

Yesterday, Evan was baptised on my first mother's day. Fr. Chito, the priest who convalidated our wedding in the Catholic church came back to Saint Monica's to celebrate the baptism. He has been at Christ the King in Buckhead for 4 months and yesterday was his first time back at our church. We had a private baptism and it was beautiful! Fr. Chito was so loving to us and to Evan and added a lot of personal touches during the baptism. It was a very joyous occasion. You can tell I was overjoyed because I never stopped smiling. I'm thrilled that my little boy is finally a full member of the Catholic Church.

Just a little background... After Mike and I married in September 2004, I started feeling guilty that we didn't marry in the Catholic church. At the time, we weren't even going to church. I rebelled back during my college years. Mike and I found Saint Monica's based on recommendation from my mom that Fr. Chito would probably work with us and marry us, eventually. Fr. Chito convalidated our marriage on July 2, 2005 and in preparation for that marriage, we were paired up with Tim and Sharon, our sponsor couple. It was a match made in heaven! Sharon and I are both very outgoing and Tim and Mike are both very reserved and happy to let their wives chat.

When Evan was still "baking" we asked Tim and Sharon to be his godparents. They were such great examples of the Catholic faith that we knew they would be perfect godparents to Evan. They definitely love him as much as anyone and we are so lucky to have them in our lives. We will treasure their friendship and love always.

After the baptism, we all came over to our house and ate steaks, chicken, eggrolls, veggie casseroles, and tons of dessert (thanks to Mom/Lola, Christina, and Mike). People actually eat when I don't cook! We had a great time visiting and sent Fr. Chito back home with some eggrolls for later. He had such a good time that he has already thrown his hat in the ring to baptise our next baby. We'll be taking him up on that offer.

I want to tell everyone again, Happy Mother's Day! I hope your day was as special as mine was!

Thanks also to my mom, Fr. Chito, Dick, Jackie, Christina, Jeremy, Cole, Julie, Al, Tim, and Sharon for sharing Evan's day with us. We will never forget it!

Evan and Daddy spend some quality time searching the web

Helping with dinner, complete with spit bubbles!

After some rice cereal, taste of green beans, and some formula.... sleep

Sorry for the delay in posting. Evan and I had a busy weekend walking with Andrea and Katie for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, among other things. Becky, we missed you! I didn't take any pictures because my camera is huge and Evan was a handful enough. We had a fabulous and fun time though.

We are also preparing for Evan's baptism this weekend. The time is finally upon us! We'll fit in some more pictures sometime this week.

Picture time!

I was desperate for good Baptism pictures since our Target pics last week didn't go how I wanted them to. We went to Babies R Us and it was a success. It was definitely more money than Target but it was worth it this time.
