Self Portraits
I grabbed the camera this afternoon and took a shot at getting some self portraits of Evan and me. Amazingly, every time the red-eye lamp went on, so did Evan's smile. Here's a look at what we got...

Politics and Toys
This post is random as all get out so I hope you can follow me!
Our first two pictures are in protest to the baggy pants ordinance that Atlanta officials are considering. Seriously, do they not have anything better to do that police people's pants! I'd love for them to police these pants with a big stinky diaper in them.
and now for the toys....
Evan did get some new toys though. I've been Craig's Listing for baby items again and found a girl in Winder that owns just about every Little Tikes toy ever made. She even had a Leap Frog table that I wanted for Evan. For $120, we got a Leap Frog Learning Table (for our house), Sesame Street Learning Table (for Mom's downstairs), Fisher Price Learning Table (for Mom's upstairs), tunnel slide, and castle swing along. I'm thrilled and so far Evan likes the new stuff too!

Sleep and the lack there of
We haven't been sleeping very much this week. Evan has pulled a night or two of waking up every two hours. We aren't sure exactly why but we are working through it. This is the reason I have nothing to post. I'm extremely tired. When I get a free minute and I'm not sleeping, I'm reading The No-Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley. No one ever tells you that when you have a baby not sleeping, how difficult it is to stay awake while reading a book about sleep.
In other news, I am doing two walks in October for causes near and dear to my heart. The first one is the Step Out to Fight Diabetes walk at Grant Park on October 6, 2007. I have been an insulin-dependent diabetic for just over 15 years now so Evan and I will be walking for a cure. I even fancied my page up a bit if you check it out!
The other walk Evan and I are doing is the Light the Night Walk for everyone that battles blood cancers. I work with adults with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other hematological disorders every day and the Leukemia/Lymphoma society provides all patients that apply with some monetary help and support. This walk will be fun because it will be in the early evening on October 13, 2007 at Centennial Olympic Park. All of the walkers will get a balloon with a glow stick for the walk.
If you can give, great and thank you in advance. If you cannot give, I completely understand. There are so many worthwhile causes out there to support. I hope to blog with happier news and pictures over the weekend! Have a good Friday!

Down on the farm
Saturday was Cole's birthday party. It was at Johnston Dairy Farm in Newborn, GA (AKA - middle of nowhere). It was a good time though. When we arrived, the party had already started. It had just rained a little and it was very muggy. Here, Ethan and Cole are taking a break from running on the hay bales.
Cole and Jeremy hamming it up for the camera
It was the first time that Jing and Kayla had met Evan, so we took a picture
Inside the milking room, Bessie #534 was eyeing Mike.

Evan and me on the hay ride
We stopped while on the hay ride to feed the pregnant cows and the heffers (heffers are cows untouched by a bull if ya didn't know, because I sure didn't). There were about 100 of them with one male bull. Busy guy!

I never would have thought....
I never would have thought that I would be a mom, especially not to an 8 month old. I can't believe we've made it this far and in 4 more short months, I will be singing Happy Birthday to a one year old. This is definitely one of the greatest joys in my life and so rewarding.
Here are a few pictures from the weekend
My two men, happy as can be
We are trying to hold our sippy cup. He still won't hold his own bottle, but I keep reminding myself that it will come in time.
I'm not one for bad pictures of myself but Evan fell asleep on the couch and I was afraid he would fall off so I laid down beside him and fell asleep too.
By the way, he is not trying to bring Flashdance back, those are his new Skid Pants to protect his knees when he crawls. (I also got him the black pair in the picture two up.) I recommend these things though they look funny. His knees aren't near as red as they have been without.
I hope everyone has a good start to the week.

Life is Beachy!
Today we went to Babies R Us and took Evan's "almost" 8 month pictures. He hasn't had any solo shots in a month and a half so we were due. We had no plans for the pictures but we rolled up his pants and shirt sleeves and hit the beach.
He had a great picture taken in this chair last time so we gave it another shot
Then we hit the forest or meadow (or whatever)
He looks absolutely terrified in this picture. He doesn't always smile for those of you that have questioned.
And the close up... This one just made me shake my head a few times. He is getting so big, so fast. Thanks for sharing my picture obsession with me. We spend a small chunk of change on these things so I definitely need to share.
Hope your weekend was great!
